Roblox July Incident

from Wackipedia, last updated 1:49 PM 8/8/2022

The Roblox July Incident is an ongoing event involving a major security flaw in the online game Roblox's code. In the flaw, a player could lure another player inside of a game, in which the victim is locked into the loading screen, when inside the game, an event launches using a remote chat feature to make the player say "I rape children" or something along those lines on repeat. Moderation bots see this and terminate the victim.

The flaw has existed since 2016, but has only been noticed now. The event has gotten over thousands of accounts terminated over the span of July 18th and 19th, 2022.

Nearly a week after the initial beginning of the incident, the perpetrators of the hack got terminated and IP banned, effectively putting a stop to the game with the script. Roblox has reported they were working on a "long-term fix" once the incident got reported.
