The PSUS Dark Age is an ongoing era in the PoliticalSimulationUS Discord server and subreddit caused by a mass resignation by a large amount of the mod and admin team accompanied by a similar member exodus.
PSUS Server owner PewdSaiman had been rejecting a full move of the PSUS simulation to Discord, arguing that many of the participants do not have Discord and can only access Reddit and use the PSUS subreddit. The mod team however did not agree with Pewds and kept insisting to move the entire simulation to the server, and that the subreddit could just be used for campaigning.
The mod team and Pewds also had heat over if Pewds was abusing his power as owner or not. Pewds had this power to veto motions proposed by the mod team left-and-right and we can just say the mod team didnt like this very much.
In the late hours of July 19th, 2022, MacArthur's MacNukes, a server admin, made an announcement saying if Pewds did not step down as server owner in the following 48 hours, a very large chunk of the moderation team would resign and form a new server. This caused esentially a chaos in the server's chat channels, the ex-admins who resigned basically had started a revolution, a small one, but a powerful one. The revolution kind of died down the next morning on July 20th.
In the first few hours of July 20th, the mass resignations from server admins come in. At around 2:00 AM, "the final proposal" is proposed from admin Department_Radiant, outlining that governor and senate stuff can happen on both Reddit and Discord, and that campaigning should be left to the subreddit.
At 4:47 AM, Pewds basically put the whole movement down saying the admins could "resign happily", and opened up mod applications in his DMs. In the following minutes admins DroogMuster and Pepper resigned, at 7:17 AM admin OMEGA resigned, at 10:32 AM, MacNukes resigned. At 11:15 AM it was announced that Political Simulation International had seperated from PSUS.
At 3:26 PM, admin Occisor announced his resignation, but due to the fact Pewds wouldnt be online for a few more hours, he decided to have some fun and changed the server icon to a realistic Ned Flanders.
After the events of what was initially though of as a minor disruption to the simulation, most of the initial moderation staff came back over the months and an "interim ownership" ownership election took place in August. The election resulted in CommanderRepublican (also known as Elethant) becoming interim owner of PSUS until September 12th of 2022, when Pewds revoked back his own power. On September 11th, just a day prior to the revokation, admin Xolaya claimed he had gained "unanimous support" for a "reform" that resulted in the mass deletion of several channels and roles, many protested this action but were ignored, Xolaya neglected he couldve moved the channels and roles to an archive, and refused after being told so. Unlike the July incident, no large revolution sparked from this.
